kookaburras & a solitary magpie...

i.
and if he is lucky enough
to see her let down her hair...
he'll see kookaburras
& a solitary magpie
have taken nest in there.

ii.
she may offer him a smile
as pure as
sunbeams & thunder;
and if he lets her,
she'll bless his life
with vanilla & wonder.

iii.
and as her plane
transports her away to a northern hemisphere,
he keeps an eye skyward for the
biggest full moon in eighteen years...

iv.
(we are all travelers traversing timelines.
& jetlag is but a means
to allow us
to catch up on sleep
and ourselves.
Some of us travel outward
& some inward.
But we are all travelers
none the less.)

v.
she came to say goodbye,
and upon leaving, turned & said:
"I'm very glad I came over."

vi.
he is not the same man!
yes!! he has changed shape inside.
he pins an invisible medal for bravery
on his tiny, fragile chest.
& in the moonlight he shivers,
standing a little taller / bolder.

vii.
and for what it is worth,
be she close or far;
she has now become
his
constant
&
guiding
star.
